I'm off to enjoy my birthday traveling back to wisconsin to treasure old friends and a good ol mid-western summer....be back soon!!!

this past week i've been drowning in no sleep and a sick child with her first major ear infection....it's been tough on her and us!
but the light is near; it's faint but i can see it...
really looking forward to visiting old friends in wisconsin next weekend...that's the light at the end of the tunnel
but for now...i'm going to get some sleep while i can

When I asked for
all things, so that
I might enjoy LIFE,
I was given life, so that
I might enjoy all things.

even though this week started out with going to the Dr. to get a lump checked out on my neck (ended up being nothing..thank goodness...because if you know me ...you know I obsessed over it and pretty much thought i was dying)
then came a 24 hour bug of sorts with sore throat, fever, chills and a achy brakey night of sleeping
then came the Friday night commute home early so we could make the concert at the cove in alameda only to be interupted by getting rear ended on the Bay Bridge! ugh!!! what a shock that was...I've never really gotten in a car accident before and believe me I don't feel the need for it to ever happen again! i'm pretty much ok and the car is drivable but still damage needs to be fixed.... so needless to say we didn't make it to the concert and i went to bed early....
but today ....got up and out of the house early to get back over the bridge into what i thought was going to be a very very foggy san francisco but it ended up not being at all to our delight! we've been reading this "goodnight san francisco" book to kadison for about a year now and we're trying to show her all the places it talks about.
well today we went to "Stow Lake" and rode a paddle boat; it was fabulous! we saw loads of turltes, ducks, geese, the waterfall and rode under the 2 bridges...it was great and we all had a fun time. it's always priceless to watch Kadison experience things for the first time. we then went to find the big play park but it was still under construction which really bummed us out but the carousel was running so we had to ride that before we left.
ended the day with a long drive down to the south bay to get some ice cream from the one and only dairy queen - the big DQ. us midwesterner's aren't satisfied with summer days without a soft serve cone from DQ.
back home to naps on the couch ended our adventure and i must say i'm ok with this week being over......

I don't know how long
I can do this, he said
I think the universe
has differnt plans
for me
& we sat there in silence
& I thought to myself
that this is the thing
we all come to
& this is the thing
we all fight
& if we are lucky
enough to lose,
our lives
become beautiful
with mystery
again
& I sat there silent
because that is not
something
that can be said
